On June 26, 2012 City Council adopted a resolution to establish the Beauregard Rezoning Advisory Group. Members include five community and at large members, one member each from the Planning Commission, Transportation Commission, Environmental Policy Commission, Recreation and Parks Commission, and Affordable Advisory Committee, and one developer representative. As part of the implementation process for the Beauregard Small Area Plan, the City is in the process of reviewing a proposal to establish a new Coordinated Development District (CDD) through amendments to the Zoning Map and Zoning Ordinance, and to adopt design guidelines for the Beauregard Small Area Plan. For more than three years, residents, businesses, community organizations, neighboring civic groups, and property owners worked with the City to create a vision for development that will occur in the Beauregard area in the next 20 to 30 years. In 2012, the Alexandria City Council voted 6-0-1 to approve the Beauregard Small Area Plan. The final Beauregard Small Area Plan was adopted on June 16, 2012.
