CIP Projects+ Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) The school division uses capital funds to provide safe learning environments for Alexandria’s students. Upgrades to facilities may include HVAC and fire alarm system replacements, playground resurfacing and roof replacements.

+ Community Development Community Development projects work to enhance the quality of life throughout the City by providing for the maintenance and restoration of the City’s streams, channels and waterways or neighborhood projects such as street cans, street lighting or wayfinding systems.

+ Recreation & Parks Capital funding for Recreation and Parks projects is used for the creation of new or expanded facilities or for the maintenance of existing facilities. Special investments such as irrigation systems, artificial turf fields or drainage improvements are made in order to expand the life of recreation and parks facilities.

+ Streets, Bridges, & Pedestrian Improvements To ensure that people and goods to safely traverse the City, the CIP provides funding for the maintenance and occasional reconstruction of the City’s streets, bridges and pedestrian walkways.
