The 18th Annual Walk to Fight Breast Cancer will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011.  Onsite registration begins at 6:30 a.m., and The Walk starts at 8 a.m. at the AMC Hoffman Center. Participants have the option of either the 1.5K, 3.5K or 5K walk or run.

All proceeds from the Walk benefit the Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund at Inova Alexandria Hospital, which provides mammograms to uninsured women or to those in financial need. Since the Walk's inception in 1994, over 5,000 women have been helped due to the generous support of sponsors, walkers and their pledges.

The 2011 Walk is presented by the City of Alexandria and the Inova Alexandria Hospital Foundation and benefits The Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund for Early Detection and Education at Inova Alexandria Hospital.

The Women Mean Business of Alexandria invites you to attend the 7th Annual Silent Auction Event to benefit the Walk to Fight Breast Cancer Surgical Fund.  For more information and to purchase tickets please visit www.womenmeanbusiness.info

About the Walk

The Walk to Fight Breast Cancer was initiated in 1994 by former City Manager Vola Lawson and has developed a rich heritage among the community's business leaders and individuals.  As one of Alexandria's most anticipated annual events, the Walk supports free mammograms and other diagnostic screening procedures for Alexandria women who are not adequately insured, who earn low/moderate income and could not otherwise obtain this necessary medical care.  We are proud that since its inception, more than 5,000 women have received mammograms and other diagnostic procedures through the generous support of our sponsors, walkers and their pledges.

We want to thank all who sponsored and supported last year's Walk, in which nearly 1,200 people participated, and over $130,000 was raised to help provide Alexandria's women with the best medical care available.
