All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Residential trash and recycling will be collected on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, beginning at 6 a.m.

Mayor Euille Receiving Commemorative ArtworkCity of Alexandria teens are already queuing up for summer jobs, and the TeensWork! Program is looking for additional work experience sites. The program needs work sites in City departments and non-profits where teen workers can have a meaningful work experience, develop good on-the-job skills and get exposure to various occupations. If your office could use a little help for six weeks between Monday, July 8, and Friday, Aug 16, or if you would like more information on the program, contact Lissette Pippy at 703.746.5880 or email

City employees from all departments are invited to the cruise to benefit The Fund for Alexandria’s Child. Tickets are $65 for City staff. The cruise aboard the Cherry Blossom on June 27 includes buffet, drinks, live music, dancing. The boat remains at the dock from 7 – 8:30 p.m. The cruise on the river runs from 8:30 to 10 p.m. City employees may purchase tickets at the City staff price via check or credit card through Suzanne Kratzok at ext 5663 or email her at For more details on the cruise, click the link above.
