Administrative Services
The Fire Department Administrative Services Bureau provides technical and professional support for the other branches of the department. This support includes maintenance, fiscal management, human resources, information management, record keeping, reports, capital improvements, and various other staff and administrative functions. A administrative division chief commands the division.

Fiscal Management
Matt Bosse Fiscal Officer II 703.746.5262 | The Fiscal Management section of the Administrative Services Division oversees the preparation and management of the Department's annual budget in 30 program areas. The section is headed by a Fiscal Officer II with support from a Fiscal Officer I and two support staff. This section also manages a number of fiscal grants which support operational, health, safety and outreach initiatives of the Department. |
Human Resources

| The Fire/EMS Department's Human Resources section is part of the Administrative Services Division and consists of a Human Resources Manager, a Recruitment Officer and a Human Resources Technician. The section is responsible for procedural development, employee relations, recruitment activities and the development and administration of selection methods for all public safety positions (firefighters, medics and fire marshals) within the department. The section monitors and / or reviews the recruitment and selection techniques for all non-public safety positions. There are 228 public safety positions: 152 firefighters, including the Fire Chief, 64 medics and 12 fire marshals. The remaining 67 positions are civilian and include administrators, professionals and support staff. In addition, the Human Relations section is responsible for administering the payroll process for each division within the department, recruiting and selection, maintaining personnel and related files, and administering the department's annual medical evaluation program, workers compensation, employee relations and policy development. |
Information Technology

| The Information Technology section provides technical support for the department's electronic communications systems. Incident and response data and statistics are compiled by this section. In addition, this unit supplies information to the public when they need a copy of a fire report or emergency medical service response report. In order to obtain a report, call 703-746-5200. Privacy laws prohibit the release of medical information except in the following cases:
- To the patient
- To the parent or legal guardian of a minor
- To an individual empowered by law or court decree to act for the patient
- To the family of a deceased patient.
A patient's family must have written consent from the patient in order to obtain a report. Family members of a deceased patient must show identification and give a written statement verifying their relationship to the deceased.
In all cases, proper identification must be provided and a fee must be paid for the report.
