The Museum is open for guided tours only. Tours start at a quarter after the hour and a quarter before the hour and last approximately 30 minutes. Please note some tour times are not available due to special events at the museum. Please call in advance or check the calendar of events for more information.

Discounts are available to AAA Members. Admission is free for members of the Mortar and Pestle Society, AAM members and Alexandria City Employees.
Group tours are offered by reservation at the discounted rate of $4 per person. In order to receive the group rate, tours must include 10 or more people, be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of the tour date, and pay in full before day of arrival. For group packages, Email the Curator of Education.
The museum is not wheelchair accessible beyond the first floor. The City of Alexandria complies with the terms of ADA. An individual with a disability who wishes to request a reasonable accommodation may contact the Museum at 703.746.3852 at least one day prior to visit.
The Museum Shop at the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum offers a wide variety of gifts and merchandise associated with the apothecary, medical history, and historic Alexandria. Products include private label tea, holiday ornaments, children’s items and a large selection of books related to medicine in America. The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Shop is located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, near many shops, restaurants, and other museums and historic sites. Alexandria is half-way between Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon.
From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria. The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. Go about a mile, past Queen Street, and turn left on Cameron Street, opposite Christ Church. Go four block, past City Hall, and turn right on North Fairfax Street. Go one block, past King Street, and the museum will be on your right.
From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge). Take your first right onto Franklin Street, go seven blocks and turn left onto South Fairfax Street. Go five blocks north, past Prince Street, and the museum will be on your left.
Take the yellow or blue line to King Street station. Cross the parking lot and turn right, one half block to King Street. Turn right (east) on King Street and walk about down hill about 1 mile South Fairfax Street. Turn right, and the museum will be on your right. Or take the FREE King Street Trolley to King and Fairfax Streets.
Take Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to Alexandria's Union Station (across the tracks from King Street Metro station). Upon exiting the train station, walk to your right to King Street and follow directions from Metro.
Metered Parking is available on South Fairfax Street, with two or three hour parking on nearby residential streets. Parking regulations are strictly enforced. There are also convenient parking garages nearby.
