The Museum is open for guided tours only. Tours start at a quarter after the hour and a quarter before the hour and last approximately 30 minutes.Please note some tour times are not available due to special events at the museum. Please call in advance or check the calendar of events for more information.

Admission is free for members of the Gadsby's Tavern Museum Society, AAM members, HHMC member organizations, and Alexandria City Employees.
Group tours are offered by reservation at the discounted rate of $4 per person. Tours led by a costumed guide are $5 per person and after-hours lantern tours with a costumed guide are $6 per person. In order to receive the group rate, tours must include 10 or more people, be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of the tour date, and pay in full before day of arrival. For group packages, contact the Curator of Education.
The museum is not wheelchair accessible beyond the first floor. The City of Alexandria complies with the terms of ADA. An individual with a disability who wishes to request a reasonable accommodation may contact the Museum at 703.746.4242 at least one day prior to visit.
The Museum Shop at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum offers a wide variety of gifts and merchandise associated with the tavern and historic Alexandria. Products include private label wine, holiday ornaments, children’s items and a large selection of books related to taverns in America. Directions & Parking
Gadsby's Tavern Museum is located in Old Town Alexandria, near many shops, restaurants, and other museums and historic sites. Alexandria is half-way between Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon.
Metered Parking is available on North Royal Street, with two or three hour parking on nearby residential streets. Parking regulations are strictly enforced. A free 24-hour parking pass, valid at meters, is available to out-of-town visitors at the Alexandria Visitors Center at Ramsay House at 221 King Street. There are also convenient parking garages nearby.
From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria. The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. Go about a mile, past Queen Street, and turn left on Cameron Street, opposite Christ Church. Go three blocks and turn right on North Royal Street. Gadsby's Tavern Museum is located on the right, next to Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant.
From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge). Follow Route 1 (Patrick Street) about one mile. Turn right on King Street, go six blocks, and turn left onto North Royal Street. Gadsby's Tavern Museum is located at the end of the block, on the left, at the corner of North Royal and Cameron Streets.
Take the yellow or blue line half block to King Street. Turn right (east) on King Street and walk down hill about 1 1/2 miles to North Royal Street. Turn left, and Gadsby's Tavern Museum will be on your left near the end of the block. Or take the FREE King Street Trolley to King and Royal Streets.
Take Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to Alexandria's Union Station (across the tracks from King Street Metro station). Upon exiting the train station, walk to your right to King Street and follow directions from Metro.
