Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)NSP Keys

The Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) is a federal program established for the purpose of stabilizing communities that have suffered from foreclosures and abandonment. Through the purchase and rehabiliation of foreclosed homes in three areas of the City, the goal of the program is being realized. NSP1, a term that references the NSP funds authorized in 2008, provides grants to all states and selected local governments on a formula basis. The City received an allocation of NSP1 funds through the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.  The program has been implemented with two nonprofit partner agencies, Rebuilding Together Alexandria and the Alexandria Housing Development Corporation.
