As a Walk Friendly Community designated by the UNC Highway Safety Research Center’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center and a Bicycle Friendly Community designated by the League of American Bicyclists, the City is adding walking and bicycling facilities city wide. In 2013, over 1,300 feet of new sidewalk and over 140 crosswalks were added in the city, and over 12 lane miles of on-street bicycle facilities were added through the Complete Streets Program. Check out the new improvements on North Chambliss Street,Jamieson Avenue, and King Street.
