Release of Potomac Yard Metrorail Station Draft Environmental Impact Statement to be Rescheduled to the Fall of 2013
The release of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Potomac Yard Metrorail station has been rescheduled to the fall of 2013. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, the City of Alexandria, the Federal Transit Administration and the National Park Service have been cooperating on an environmental analysis process in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act to determine if a Metrorail station should be constructed in Potomac Yard, and if so where in Potomac Yard that station should be sited. The previous DEIS was scheduled for release on May 3, but the new release schedule will allow for additional public outreach.
Chinquapin Park Recreation Center Closure Delayed to Monday, June 17
The start of planned facility improvements at the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center has been delayed. As a result, the Center will close for day-to-day operations beginning Monday, June 17. Staff continues to develop alternatives for providing programs and activities to minimize inconvenience to the community. For additional information, contact David A. RPCA Expands Use of Credit Cards for Program and Activity Payments
The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities has announced that credit card payments will be soon be accepted for Lee Center rentals, picnic and park rentals, Out of School Time Programs (OSTP), Therapeutic Recreation Programs, Nannie J. Lee programs, classes and camps, and adult and youth sports. On June 1, credit card payments will be expanded to all City community centers for programs and rentals. Currently, credit card use is limited to online (WebTrac) transactions and at the Chinquapin Recreation Center. For additional information, contact David A.
