Schedule of Services for the Christmas Holiday Week -- Updated 12/22/2014 12:38:16 PM

All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24; Thursday, December 25; and Friday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holidays. Residential refuse and recycling will be collected on Wednesday, December 24. There is no collection scheduled on Thursday, December 25; and Thursday’s collection will take place on Friday, December 26.

City of Alexandria Sponsors Free Basketball Clinics to City’s Youth

The Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will sponsor a series of free basketball clinics with the coaches from T.C. Williams, Bishop Ireton, and St. Stephens & St. Agnes High Schools. Basketball clinics are available for City of Alexandria residents ages 12 to 17 (age as of June 1, 2008). Clinics are scheduled as follows:

Saturday, May 10
George Washington Middle School, 1005 Mt. Vernon Ave.
9:30-10:30 a.m. (ages 12 to 14) and 10:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 15 to 17)
Clinic features the coaching staff from T.C. Williams High School

Saturday, June 7
Bishop Ireton High School, 201 Cambridge Rd.
9:30-10:30 a.m. (ages 12 to 14) and 10:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 15 to 17)
Clinic features the coaching staff from Bishop Ireton High School

Saturday, June 14
Francis C. Hammond Middle School, 4646 Seminary Rd.
9:30 -10:30 a.m. (for ages 12 to 14) and 10:30-11:30 a.m. (ages 15 to 17)
Clinic features the coaching staff from St. Stephens/St. Agnes High School

The free basketball clinics are a kick off to the 2008 Johnson & Siebert Summer Basketball League, for participants ages 12 to 17 (age as of June 1, 2008). There is a $20 registration fee for the league and the deadline to register is June 9. For additional information on the clinics, the summer basketball league, and other youth sports activities, call the Recreation Services Division office at 703.838.4345 or visit alexandriava.gov/recreation.
