K-9 Unit Competes in United States Police Canine Association PD-1 Trials
On April 28 and 29, the Alexandria Police Department's K-9 Unit patricipated in the United States Police Canine Association's PD-1 (Patrol Dog) Trials. The trials were held at Hensley Field in Alexandria
Competing in the trials was Sergeant Steve Carr and "G’Kar," Officer Steve Escobar and "Gracie," Officer Kyle Russel and "Chance," and Officer Mark Wuckovich and "Rocco".
All four handlers and their K-9 partners Certified in the trials. In addition, they earned the following awards. Awards were given for teams that competed in the past and a special ‘Novice’ Category for Teams that competed for the first time.

The Police Department also entered one team in the Team Completion. The team was comprised of Officer Russel and "Chance," Officer Escobar and "Gracie," and Officer Wuckovich and "Rocco." The team received 1st place in Team Competition.
