School Resource Officer Jill Lingle was honored by the Alexandria Sunrise Optimist Club at a breakfast ceremony held on Tuesday, December 11 at the Belle Haven Country Club. Officer Lingle was this years recipient of the Optimist Police Appreciation Program Award for her dedicated service to the youth in the City of Alexandria's public schools. Officer Lingle has been assigned to the School Resource Officer Unit for the last 13 years. During that time she has been assigned to the George Washington Middle School. Middle school is often the first time a child has seen or met a Police Officer and the first time many children start to make decisions on their own about their future. Officer Lingle is there to help them make those decisions and has been there for over a decade.
Officer Lingle assists with the CEW Foundation which provides counseling and mentoring for children. She also participates in COPS 4 KIDS, a program that works directly with the children after a Law Enforcement Line of Duty Death. Over the years, Officer Lingle has participated in the DARE Program, Commonwealth Youth Conference for Leadership Effectiveness (C.Y.C.L.E.) in Blacksburg, VA, Girls Club, Lunch Bunch Boys and the Olewus Anti-Bullying Program. She was also the coordinator of the Catching Youth Doing Right Campaign.
Congratulations Officer Lingle!!!
