Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Animal Welfare League Seek Public’s Help in Locating Dog

The Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Animal Welfare League are asking for the public’s help in finding a dog that bit a City resident on Sunday, December 8.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., in the 300 block of N. Latham Street, the female victim observed the animal outside in the winter weather. The dog appeared to be limping and in need of assistance. As she attempted to offer the animal food, the dog bit her causing serious injury.

The dog is described as a medium-sized dog, similar in appearance to a Collie, with brown, black and white fur. The dog appeared thin with matted hair and was walking with a limp. The dog was last seen in the 300 block of N. Latham Street.

Animal Control Officers are attempting to locate the animal and its owner. Anyone who may have witnessed the event or have information on the dog or the possible owner is asked to call the City’s non-emergency number at 703.746.4444.
