Winter Weather Operations

RPCA supports the City’s snow and ice response team by clearing snow from roadways, publicly owned sidewalks, walkways/pathways, municipal parking lots and publicly owned squares. All private property owners, occupants, community associations, and businesses are responsible for clearing snow from sidewalks, driveways, and entrances adjacent to their properties as per City Code Section 5-2-21.

Commissions - A Way to Get Involved
Commissions compose a formal system through which citizens can advise City Council on issues affecting the City. Commission meetings are open to the public and vacancies are posted on the Boards & Commissions website. RPCA's commissions include the Beautification; Commission for the Arts; Park & Recreation; and Waterfront.
Windmill Hill Park Shoreline Rehabilitation Project
Consistent with the City Council approved 2003 Windmill Hill Park Plan, the City of Alexandria is working with a design team led by Kimley-Horn, with input from the community, to implement the replacement of the current bulkhead and shoreline improvements.
Message from the Mayor

The City continues to expand program opportunities for every member of family and I encourage every resident of Alexandria to take advantage of the activities and facilities the Department offers.
