Register for Recreation Programs, Camps & Activities

Registration for Fall classes and activities is OPEN! Register online, in-person or by phone at the new Registration & Reservation Office located at the Lee Center at 1108 Jefferson St. The Registration & Reservation Office, a single source for information about recreation programs, facilities and reservations, is open for walk-in or phone support at 703.746.5414 from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Subscribers of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities' Program Guide will receive printed copies in August (fall issue), December (winter issue), and March (spring & summer issue) each year.

Public Input on Neighborhood Parks
The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is seeking public input to inform a Park Improvement Plan for the City’s existing neighborhood parks, which we characterize as being 0.5 - 10 acres and serving neighborhoods within 0.5 miles.
Alexandria Beautification Commission Announces 2014 Alexandria Beautification Award Winners
The Alexandria Beautification Commission announced the 2014 Alexandria Beautification Award winners in a ceremony held on September 15, 2014 at the Little Theatre of Alexandria.  The Commission, Vice Mayor Allison Silberberg and Councilman Paul Smedberg presented 25 Awards.  
RPCA Implements Service Enhancements to Improve Customer Service
In alignment with its goal to provide high quality customer service, the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is pleased to announce two new customer service enhancements. A Registration & Reservation Office is now open to provide customers with a one-stop-shop to get information and to register for programs, activities and facility reservations.

Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities FY 2015 Service Expectations
On May 1, the Alexandria City Council voted unanimously to adopt a $636.8 million General Fund Operating Budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015, which begins July 1, 2014. Despite challenging economic conditions, the goal of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is to maintain its core services. As costs continue to increase in providing core services to residents, some service adjustments have been made. Ad Hoc Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group

The Advisory Group was re-established by City Council resolution in June 2011. The group will provide City staff recommendations on the appropriate balance of park uses, as well as implanting education and outreach opportunities and implantation of recommendations made in the 2011 Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group report.
