Register for Recreation Programs, Camps & Activities

Registration for Fall classes and activities is OPEN! Register online, in-person or by phone at the new Registration & Reservation Office located at the Lee Center at 1108 Jefferson St. The Registration & Reservation Office, a single source for information about recreation programs, facilities and reservations, is open for walk-in or phone support at 703.746.5414 from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Subscribers of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities' Program Guide will receive printed copies in August (fall issue), December (winter issue), and March (spring & summer issue) each year.

Old Town Pool Operating Season Extended through Friday, September 19

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will continue to operate the Old Town Pool, located at 1609 Cameron St., for limited hours from Tuesday, September 2 through Friday, September 19.
The City's outdoor pools are now open daily. The Old Town Pool and Warwick Pool are open from noon to 7 p.m. The Memorial Pool at Charles Houston Rec Center is open from noon to 6 p.m.

3rd Annual Alexandria Multicultural Fest
Saturday, September 13 from noon to 4 p.m.
Designed to bring community members together to celebrate Alexandria’s diversity, Alexandria Multicultural Fest features entertainment for all ages including live music and activities representing the region’s cultures.
RPCA Implements Service Enhancements to Improve Customer Service
In alignment with its goal to provide high quality customer service, the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is pleased to announce two new customer service enhancements. A Registration & Reservation Office is now open to provide customers with a one-stop-shop to get information and to register for programs, activities and facility reservations.

Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities FY 2015 Service Expectations
On May 1, the Alexandria City Council voted unanimously to adopt a $636.8 million General Fund Operating Budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015, which begins July 1, 2014. Despite challenging economic conditions, the goal of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is to maintain its core services. As costs continue to increase in providing core services to residents, some service adjustments have been made. Ad Hoc Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group

The Advisory Group was re-established by City Council resolution in June 2011. The group will provide City staff recommendations on the appropriate balance of park uses, as well as implanting education and outreach opportunities and implantation of recommendations made in the 2011 Fort Ward Park and Museum Area Stakeholder Advisory Group report.
