Register for Recreation Programs, Camps & Activities

Registration for Spring & Summer 2015 activities is now Open! Registration opened March 18 for City residents and March 20 for nonresidents. Register online or in-person at the new Registration & Reservation Office located at the Lee Center at 1108 Jefferson St. The Registration & Reservation Office, a single source for information about recreation programs, facilities and reservations, is open for walk-in or phone support at 703.746.5414 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

2015 Alexandria Earth Day - Mark Your Calendar!
It's Your Turn to Lead
The event includes educational exhibits, demonstrations, hands-on activities for all ages and features the Upcycling Showcase, where students will showcase their creative interpretation of Earth day through literature, fashion, visual arts and performing arts.
City of Alexandria Seeks Proposals from Non-Profit Organizations for Management Lease
The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities is seeking proposals for a five-year management lease on The Conservatory Center at Four Mile Run Park, located at 4109-4125 Mt. Vernon Ave. Applicants must be non-profit organizations who would operate the facility as a community center and serve as a localized base for a non-profit organization(s) to provide private and public group activity rentals, social support, public information, and similar community-oriented programs, events, and functions.

2015 Summer Fun Guide Now Available
Summer camps and activities are available for youth ages 2-17 and include sports, dance, creative arts, computer, chess, enrichment, nature, adventure, Out of School Time (residents only) and classic camps. The Summer of Smiles brochure makes planning the summer even easier with an index listing camps by week offered and age group.

We want to Hear from You! Provide Input on Recreation Programming

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is conducting a Program Interest survey to help determine programming priorities by location, user group and time of day. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and will guide the development of future program offerings. City residents and nonresidents are encouraged to participate.

Commissions - A Way to Get Involved
Commissions compose a formal system through which citizens can advise City Council on issues affecting the City. Commission meetings are open to the public and vacancies are posted on the Boards & Commissions website. RPCA's commissions include the Beautification; Commission for the Arts; Park & Recreation; and Waterfront.
RPCA Implements Environmental & Sustainable Management System

An environmental management system is a set of management processes and procedures that allow RPCA to analyze, control and reduce the environmental impact of its activities, products and services and operate with greater efficiency and control.

Windmill Hill Park Shoreline Rehabilitation Project
Consistent with the City Council approved 2003 Windmill Hill Park Plan, the City of Alexandria is working with a design team led by Kimley-Horn, with input from the community, to implement the replacement of the current bulkhead and shoreline improvements.
