A Message from the Mayor

Alexandria is a caring community that promotes healthy lifestyles and physical fitness for individuals, families and our youth.

This fall, the City opens two new athletic complexes. The all new Witter Athletic Fields, a 13-acre complex at the intersection of Duke St. and Witter Dr., features a lighted diamond field, two lighted synthetic turf rectangular fields, restrooms, park pavilions, one-half mile pedestrian loop trail, preserved cemetery and parking for 145 vehicles. In addition, the conversion of the Lee Center Softball Field to a Miracle Field, featuring a rubberized infield with 60-foot base lines, 110-foot foul lines, dugouts, bleachers, park benches, sport lighting and a 6-foot high fence around the field, will be complete. Each of these new facilities enhances the exceptional quality of life in the City.

Please join me on Friday, November 23 for the City’s Annual Tree Lighting program at Market Square. This City tradition officially opens the holiday season with a visit from Santa Claus, holiday performance and community caroling. Throughout December, enjoy the sights and sounds of the season at a variety of holiday concerts while shopping and dining in our historic district.

Save this Program Guide and refer to it often.
