Schedule of Services for the Christmas Holiday Week -- Updated 12/22/2014 12:38:16 PM

All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24; Thursday, December 25; and Friday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holidays. Residential refuse and recycling will be collected on Wednesday, December 24. There is no collection scheduled on Thursday, December 25; and Thursday’s collection will take place on Friday, December 26.

Where to Park in Old Town Alexandria

To make your visit more pleasant, below is an overview of parking choices in Old Town Alexandria. On-street parking is available at meters and in free spaces with posted time limits. Meter parking is limited to two hours; meter feeding is prohibited. Meter hours vary, so please check the meter for requirements. Free on-street parking, indicated by green-on-white signs in many blocks, is generally limited to two hours, from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. Sunday until 2 a.m. Monday. To ensure legal parking, please read all posted signs before parking. Parking limits are strictly enforced.

Visitors to the historic district are encouraged bike, walk or take the Metrorail Yellow or Blue lines to the King Street Station and take the free King Street Trolley, or DASH or Metro buses. For DASH schedule information visit, www.dashbus.com. For Metrobus schedule information, visit www.wmata.com.

Bicyclists may visit www.alexandriava.gov/localmotion for the City’s Bikeways Map, which features the City's best on-street and off-road bikeways, as well as locations of grouped bicycle parking.
