Alexandria Police Memorial: Community Outreach

Community Meeting

On July 28, a community meeting on the proposed Alexandria Police Memorial was held at Bishop Ireton High School Cafeteria in Alexandria.  The purpose of the meeting was to gather public input about the police memorial and to introduce the members of the Selection Panel to the community. Further opportunity for community input will occur later in the public art process when the three finalists present their design maquettes and the public will be invited to submit their comments. The public exhibition period is anticipated to occur in the winter. Following this process, a final recommendation will be presented for public hearing and approval by the Alexandria Commission for the Arts and City Council.

Throughout this project there will continue to be opportunities for the community to get involved in outreach programs.  Please check back again as new information will be added.
