Organizational Development Specialist Helps Inmates Prepare for Future

Karen Parker ThompsonKaren Parker Thompson, an expert in the creation and enhancement of effective family, school, and community engagement systems, was the guest speaker at a program for inmates at the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center on Thursday, June 19. She discussed ways for inmates to help prepare themselves for healthy and successful relationships. She emphasized the importance of developing a plan of action to achieve goals relating to family, as well as spirituality, health, education and work, after their release. Under her guidance, the inmates participated in an exercise and began to formulate strategies to successfully meet their new commitments.

Ms. Thompson, a former administrator for Family Engagement and Community Resources for the Alexandria City Public Schools, holds an MS in Organizational Development from American University. She currently provides education clients with organizational development through technical assistance, coaching, and professional development.
