City Schedules Community Charrette
The City is developing an emergency scenario that will be presented during a community charrette scheduled for October 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Samuel Tucker Elementary School. Norfolk Southern Hires Security Personnel
Earlier this year, Captain Al Tierney, of the Alexandria Police Department Office of Homeland Security, conducted a threat analysis of the ethanol transloading facility and made several security upgrade recommendations to Norfolk Southern. Some physical improvements were made to the facility. On September 9, the City learned that Norfolk Southern has hired a private security company to provide unarmed security personnel for the facility 7 days a week. During the weekdays, security coverage begins at 5 p.m. and continues through the night to 7 a.m. On weekends, there is 24-hour coverage.
