The City of Alexandria is considering the construction of a new concrete sidewalk segment along Polk Ave. to improve access for pedestrians walking to and from James Polk Elementary School, in conjunction with the City’s Neighborhood Sidewalk Program. The proposed plans call for the construction of a five foot wide, approximately 280 foot long concrete sidewalk to unite the existing sidewalk ending at Polk Ave. and N. Pelham St. with the sidewalk at Polk Ave. and Palmer Pl. The City is currently gathering information at this time to determine if this project is feasible.
