WDC and Regional Airports Rapid Response Layoff Services Program Featured on CBS This Morning
A DCHS CONNECT NEWS HIGHLIGHT
December 4, 2020--The City of Alexandria Workforce Development Center (WDC) was recently featured on CBS This Morning during a segment that highlighted workers whose employment has been affected by the reduction in air travel.
The November 24 segment focused on the tens of thousands of airline industry employees who are out of work as result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has greatly reduced air travel across the nation, and on the rapid response program that WDC and regional partners are using to help workers who have lost their jobs as result of reduced air travel.
In addition the airline industry, employers that are dependent on air travel, such as car rental companies, airport restaurants, airport stores, and adjacent hotels, have been impacted by the reduced travel.
The Northern Virginia Airports Rapid Response Layoff Services provides support and services to workers who have been laid off or furloughed from airline industry related employers, like free job training, paid work experiences, career coaching, resume writing assistance, job readiness workshops, online job fairs, virtual training and financial coaching.
