City of Alexandria Offers FEMA Emergency Management Training Courses
The City is offering free FEMA emergency management training courses to interested individuals or organizations. The FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) is a systematic, proactive approach to guide departments and agencies at all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector to work together seamlessly and manage incidents involving all threats and hazards—regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity. The Incident Command System (ICS) is a management system designed to enable effective and efficient domestic incident management by integrating a combination of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications operating within a common organizational structure.
The following courses are being offered:
ICS-100: Introduction to ICS. Target Audience: Entry Level Responders & Disaster Workers.
IS-700: NIMS, An Introduction. Target: Entry Level Responders & Disaster Workers.
ICS-200: Basic ICS. Target: First Line Supervisors. Prerequisites: ICS-100, IS-700
IS-800: National Response Framework (NRF). Target: Middle Management. Prerequisites: ICS-100, 200 and IS-700
ICS-300: Intermediate ICS. Target: Middle Management. Prerequisites: ICS-100,200, IS-700 & 800
ICS-400: Advanced ICS. Target: Command Personnel. Prerequisites: ICS-100,200,300. IS-700 and 800.
