The Alexandria Health Department (AHD), in partnership with Visit Alexandria and local restaurant and business associations, has launched the “ALX Promise” program to help businesses safely reopen. When customers see the ALX Promise shield displayed on a business’s window or website, they will know that the business has committed to higher safety standards for employees and customers than the minimum rules required by law for all businesses.
Businesses that commit to the ALX Promise will be listed online by Visit Alexandria.
The Meaning Behind the Promise
The ALX Promise shield means that a business has:
- Participated in training with an AHD Environmental Health Specialist on the requirements to reopen their business.
- Trained all of its employees on the safety measures needed for a safe reopening.
- Submitted a completed checklist, training record and pledge commitment to ensure the safety of its employees and staff.
- Agreed to follow all future applicable health guidance as Alexandria enters new phases of reopening.
Businesses, Take the Pledge
Show your commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment by becoming an ALX Promise business partner. Register your interest to participate online, and AHD will follow up to schedule training.
After the pledge process is complete, AHD will deliver a window decal, certificate and other materials that can be displayed so customers know your business is committed to safe practices.
