2018 Summer Camps

Alexandria Archaeology Summer Camp
WHAT: Help Alexandria’s City archaeologists excavate a real archaeological site! Learn professional excavating, recording, and artifact processing methods. Uncover Alexandria’s buried past while protecting the City’s valuable historic resources.
WHO: Ages: 12 - 15.
WHEN: Monday-Friday, July 16-20, 2018. From 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: The Alexandria Archaeology Museum, and a real archaeological site in Alexandria.
COST: $400 with available scholarships. A non-refundable deposit check of $100, payable to the City of Alexandria, is required upon receipt of application to secure your reservations. The balance of $300 is due by June 1 prior to the start of camp.

Civil War Kids Camp
WHAT: Explore life during the Civil War through a week of fun and learning. Campers will be immersed in the lives of soldiers and civilians of the period, through fun and educational activities such as drilling and marching, hands-on craft lessons, 19th-century games, and learning from guest reenactors.
WHO: Boys and girls ages 8-12
WHEN: June 25-29, 2018, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day (rain or shine)
WHERE: Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site, 4301 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22304
COST: $250 fee includes snacks, kepi, equipment and craft supplies. Children should bring a bag lunch and a water bottle each day.
REGISTRATION: Submit your Registration Form in person or by mail, along with your check made out to City of Alexandria. Registration is limited to the first 24 applicants.
Clio’s Kids: A History Mini-Camp
Registration is open for 2018!
WHAT: Clio's Kids introduces children to American history and life in historic Alexandria through artifacts, storytelling, singing and crafts, "old-fashioned" games, and visits to nearby historic places.
Our theme this year is “Time Travelers.” We’ll go back in time, exploring aspects of daily life in twentieth, nineteenth, and eighteenth century Alexandria each day of camp. Campers should come prepared for outside activities each day, including sturdy walking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.
WHO: Children ages 5 - 7
WHERE: The Lyceum, Alexandria’s History Museum, 201 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314
WHEN: July 17, 18 & 19, 2018, from 9 a.m. to noon (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
COST: The fee is $115 and includes snacks and souvenirs.
