Throughout the year, a host of events take place in the city, celebrating holidays, historical figures and the artistic scene Alexandria is renowned for. From annual festivals and parades, to art shows, live music, theater, history reenactments and holiday celebrations, Alexandria's award-winning culture never stops buzzing.
Farmers' Markets in the City of Alexandria include the Old Town Farmers' Market in City Hall's Market Square; the Del Ray Farmers' Market on the corner of East Oxford & Mount Vernon Avenues; the Four Mile Run Farmers' & Artisans Market at 4109 Mt Vernon Avenue; and the West End Farmers' Market at Ben Brenman Park, 4800 Brenman Park Drive.
The Alexandria Library is an educational, user-oriented service institution providing free public access to recorded knowledge and ideas. The Library maintains collections of general, regionally historical, and recreational reading, listening, and viewing materials for home and on-site use; provides information services by both professional and skilled staff; provides access to off-site collections, electronic reference resources, and the Internet through the latest information technologies.

Arts & Culture
Many of the City's premier historic sites are owned and operated by the City of Alexandria and fall under the administration of the Office of Historic Alexandria, the department of City government charged with the conservation, interpretation and promotion of these links to the past.
Through engaging the community, encouraging participation, and facilitating access to the arts, the Office of the Arts works with local artists and arts organizations to build a vibrant community for all of the City's residents, workers and visitors.
A variety of concerts and musical performances and events occur at parks and public spaces in the City throughout the year.
Launched by the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts and equipped with traditional and innovative art supplies, the Mobile Art Lab works with local artists to offer a variety of participatory art projects for people of all ages.
