Deadline to Register or Update Virginia Voter Registration is May 20

For Immediate Release: May 16, 2019

The deadline to register to vote in Virginia’s June 11 Democratic Party primary election is Monday, May 20. In Alexandria, all voters may choose a nominee for Clerk of Circuit Court. Voters in the Hermitage, John Adams, William Ramsay, and Southport precincts may choose a nominee for the Senate of Virginia from the 35th District. Voters in Virginia do not register by party, so any person registered to vote in Alexandria may participate in the June 11 Democratic Party primary election.

In Alexandria, there is no Republican Party primary election this June. Instead, the Republican Party will hold a party canvass (meeting) to nominate its candidates for the November election.

Checking Registration

If you have moved since the last time you voted, please make sure you are registered at your current address. You may check your registration at or contacting, or calling 703.746.4050.
