City of Alexandria Provides COVID-19 Updates; AHD Transitions to New Vaccine Clinic Locations; Weekly Vaccine Updates

For Immediate Release: June 4, 2021

Help end the pandemic by wearing a mask over both your nose and mouth, washing your hands frequently, and getting vaccinated. Approximately 1 in 20 Alexandrians who have tested positive for COVID-19 have required hospitalization, so without these critical steps, additional lives may be at risk.

AHD Transitions to New Vaccine Clinic Locations

The Alexandria Health Department (AHD) relocated vaccine clinics from the Potomac Yard and George Washington Middle School locations to two new sites. AHD is now operating vaccine clinics at Francis C. Hammond Middle School (4646 Seminary Rd.) and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (600 Dulany St.). Due to the transition to the new clinic locations and the Memorial Day holiday, a single vaccination clinic was held this week and the number of vaccinations administered by AHD was significantly reduced. Visit alexandriava.gov/Vaccines for upcoming AHD vaccination clinics.

Weekly Vaccine Updates

Between May 28 and June 3, AHD administered first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 72 people and fully vaccinated 359 people with either a second dose of Moderna or Pfizer or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Vaccination opportunities in Alexandria can be found through pharmacies, private providers, hospital system providers, and AHD. Information about vaccination by AHD and other community providers is listed on alexandriava.gov/Vaccines. Both scheduled and walk-in opportunities are available.
