The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities is offering a native plant and shrub sale in your neighborhood to help grow Alexandria’s tree canopy. Beautify your yard and help grow Alexandria’s tree canopy by purchasing and planting a high quality native tree or shrub at home!
The City’s Waterfront Plan envision a new public plaza at the foot of King Street called Fitzgerald Square. The plaza encompasses the City owned properties of 1 & 2 King Street, and the existing King Street Park, totaling about one acre of land. When the Old Dominion Boat Club moves to Prince Street, the City plans to create an “interim” public space to enjoy until construction begins on the permanent park.
Consistent with the City Council approved 2003 Windmill Hill Park plan, the City of Alexandria is replacing the existing bulkhead with a natural shoreline. Construction activities are planned to begin in October 2016 with substantial completion by October 2017.
