Established in FY 2017, the Community Matching Fund (Fund) promotes collaborative partnerships among City of Alexandria community organizations by providing matching 1:1 dollars to groups for park and recreation improvement projects. RPCA will accept proposals for Fiscal Year 2018 through April 30, 2017.

The City’s Waterfront Plan envision a new public plaza at the foot of King Street called Fitzgerald Square. The plaza encompasses the City owned properties of 1 & 2 King Street, and the existing King Street Park, totaling about one acre of land. When the Old Dominion Boat Club moves to Prince Street, the City plans to create an “interim” public space to enjoy until construction begins on the permanent park.
The City of Alexandria has awarded a contract to Webb Construction for the construction of the Warwick Pool and Pool House. Construction began March 27 with the opening currently scheduled for summer 2017. Warwick Pool Schematic Design
Consistent with the City Council approved 2003 Windmill Hill Park plan, the City of Alexandria is replacing the existing bulkhead with a natural shoreline. Construction activities are planned to begin in Spring 2017 with substantial completion by Spring 2018.
