2019 RPCA Photo Contest

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities' photo contest highlights original photos taken at any City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities park, center, program or event. Online public voting determines the photos that best represent the Department’s mission to “enrich the City of Alexandria by creating meaningful experiences through public space, cultural activities, and programming.”

Calling All Photographers for the 2019 RPCA Photo Contest

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities invites all photographers to share your best original photos taken at any City of Alexandria park, center, program, or event. Photos should represent the Department’s mission to "enrich the City of Alexandria by creating meaningful experiences through public space, cultural activities and programming." 

Photo submissions will be accepted September 13 through October 15 and public voting will take place November 1 through 15. Prizes will be awarded for each category: Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Activities. There will also be one Grand Prize winner. Winners are scheduled to be announced on December 2, 2019 on social media and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities website. All winning photographs will be displayed online and at the Lee Center, and all winning photographers will receive an award certificate with their prize.

2018 RPCA Photo Contest Winners

Thanks to everyone who submitted original photos and voted to determine those best represent the Department’s mission to "enrich the City of Alexandria by creating meaningful experiences through public space, cultural activities and programming.” All photos were submitted by local amateur and professional photographers and represent scenes from Alexandria parks, centers, programs, or events. Online public voting determined the winners in four categories: Parks, Recreation, Cultural Activities and Overall.

All winning photographs may be featured in promotional material. Winning photographers received an award and gift certificate at the January 2019 Park and Recreation Commission Meeting. Congratulations to the winners of the 2018 RPCA Photo Contest:
