Annual Santa Winter Wonderland Event beginning Monday, December 16

The Alexandria Redevelopment & Housing Authority (ARHA), in partnership with the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities and Toys for Tots will hold its Annual Santa’s Winter Wonderland at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St., Monday, December 16 through Wednesday, December 18. The public is invited to stroll through a Winter Wonderland featuring the sights of Old Town Alexandria including City Hall, the Masonic Temple, Amtrak Train Station, Torpedo Factory, townhomes and more. Enjoy the beautifully decorated 20 foot tree, 8 foot Nutcracker, Toys and Santa’s Sleigh that adorn the path through the Winter Wonderland.

Public events include:

  • Community Performances
    Monday, December 16, Noon to 8 p.m.
    Enjoy the sights and sounds of the season as choirs, instrumentalists, bands, and soloists open the festivities;
  • Community Book Reading
    Monday, December 16, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    Mayor Euille and members of the Alexandria City Council, joined by Roy Priest, CEO, ARHA and Chris Ballard, ARHA Board Chairman, will read seasonal books to children and their families; and
  • Santa Arrives at the Charles Houston Recreation Center
    Wednesday, December 18, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    Santa arrives on his big red fire truck, escorted by Alexandria Fire Department, to provide gifts to children ages infant to 17
