Since the beginning of the year, deputies and other Sheriff’s Office employees have been visiting local elementary schools to read to students. When Mr. Holland asked for “Community Celebrity Readers” to read to his third graders at MacArthur, the Sheriff’s Office eagerly volunteered. Several employees have already visited and read to Mr. Holland’s students – and Deputy Marvia Anderson (below) has been twice!

Then for Read Across America, held annually during the anniversary of Dr. Seuss' birth, the Sheriff’s Office partnered with Cora Kelly. Human Resources Manager Chris Whelan donned a “Cat in the Hat” style hat to read “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?” to students in the Cora Kelly library.
