It’s that epic battle of portability versus functionality…or is it?

It may surprise you to know that a laptop has the same capabilities as the commonly used desktop computer. Laptops also have the advantages of being smaller, lighter, and more energy efficient to extend battery life. With the use of an energy efficient LCD screen and an energy efficient processor, the laptop wins hands down in lower energy consumption over the desktop computer.

More specifically, choosing a laptop over a desktop computer means an energy savings of 50 – 80%. Laptops save additional energy by not requiring a battery backup system like desktops do. If the laptop is connected to a power cord and there is a power outage, the battery will automatically take over to avoid any work loss. Saving this much energy can make a significant difference, especially if more people in the office follow your example and select a laptop computer instead of a desktop.

For the person that mostly uses computers for the internet, email, Word or Excel, laptops can be the right choice. You and your laptop can be the energy saving stars of the office. Now all you have to worry about is the boss wanting you to take your work home! (Just say no!)

Quick Facts:

Laptops save 50-80% of the energy used by desktops.

A laptop has all the functionality of a desktop computer.
