Construction Permits and Inspections Section, Room 4130, City Hall,
301 King Street, 703.746.4035
Temporary reserved parking may be issued for the following reasons: weddings, wedding receptions, funerals, wakes, parades, moving, loading and unloading, construction equipment, repairs and maintenance, city permitted events, snow removal, and other uses as deemed necessary to effectively operate within the City, including emergency security measures.
(LINK to main permit page for application. Applications can be submitted via email, at TESpermits@alexandriava.gov, or in person at the address listed above.)
The Costs for Reserving Parking Spaces are:
METERED SPACES: $40.00 PER METER, PER DAY.
NON-METERED SPACES: $30.00 PER SPACE, PER DAY.
To cover NO PARKING signs: $10.00 EACH SIGN, PER DAY.
To obtain permits for temporary reserved parking , you need to know how many spaces you will need. There is 20 feet to a space. A maximum of 5 spaces can be reserved for weddings, wedding receptions, funerals, wakes and moving. The number of spaces reserved for parades, loading and unloading, construction equipment, repairs and maintenance, City-permitted events, snow removal, etc. will be as needed. You need to know the exact location where you want the spaces reserved: address, which side of the street (north, south, east or west). If the spaces are metered, you should know the meter number(s) which can be found inside the glass.
Before temporary reserved parking for cranes, dumpsters or welding trucks (construction equipment) can be issued, you must first obtain a permit and provide a certificate of insurance for general liability, which names the City of Alexandria as co-insured or additional insured.
THIS OFFICE CANNOT RESERVE PARKING SPACES FOR CONTRACTOR'S VEHICLES WHILE THE CONTRACTOR PERFORMS WORK. PERMITS MAY BE ISSUED ONLY FOR SPACES FOR EQUIPMENT BEING USED FOR WORK AT THE SITE (CRANES, DUMPSTERS, ETC.).
THE CITY DOES NOT RESERVE PUBLIC PARKING SPACES FOR PRIVATE PARTIES. REQUESTS MAY BE MADE TO THE TREASURY DIVISION ON THE 1ST FLOOR IN CITY HALL FOR VISITOR PASSES.
TEMPORARY RESERVED SIGNS MUST BE APPLIED FOR NO LATER THAN 12:00 P.M. THREE FULL BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO WHEN THE PARKING SPACES ARE NEEDED (WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS EXCLUDED). SEE SAMPLE BELOW.
