Residential Parking Districts
2 or 3 Hour Parking (depending on the location) EXCEPT for Vehicles with appropriate district residential parking permits.
In 1979 the Alexandria City Council designated certain areas in the City as residential permit parking districts. Council established these parking districts because of the increased demand for parking, particularly in the Old Town and residential areas of the City near METRO stations. The residential permit parking ordinance prohibits on-street parking for more than two or three hours during varying time periods. Vehicles displaying the appropriate parking permits are exempt from these restrictions. The City's Transportation Division posts signs in each block of the parking districts describing the time limits and hours of enforcement. Only persons who maintain their residence within the boundaries of a permit parking district are eligible to obtain parking permits. Guest permits may be obtained online, or at any Alexandria Library branch, in addition to City Hall.

No Parking from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EXCEPT for vehicles that display a valid City tax decal or a guest or visitor permits for District 12.
In May 2011, City Council adopted a Daytime Parking District in your area (District 12). The goal of district 12 parking restrictions is to prevent commuters from outside Alexandria from parking on district 12 blocks during the workday. Parking is prohibited on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except holidays), unless the vehicle displays either a valid City tax decal on the windshield, or a Guest or Visitor permit for District 12. If your residence is located with the district 12 day-time parking boundaries, the City will send you a permanent visitor/guest permit should a sufficient number of your residents on a block face successfully petition the City to establish restricted parking on a part of the block that includes your residence.
