Operation Ceasefire is a prosecutor-led initiative of the OCA focused on preventing violent crime and keeping Alexandria residents safe. The office supports swift and fair prosecution of gun-related offenses while also engaging in community awareness and outreach programs. This initiative reflects the OCA’s commitment to public safety, justice, and maintaining the trust of the community.
Collaborative Partners
Operation Ceasefire succeeds through a coordinated team approach, bringing together multiple partners in Alexandria and Northern Virginia. Together, these partners work collaboratively to reduce gun violence, enhance public safety, and strengthen community trust.
Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office (OCA)
Oversees the grant program, coordinates prosecutions of gun-related offenses, and ensures alignment with public safety and justice priorities.
Alexandria Police Department (APD)
Enforces gun laws, investigates illegal firearm activity, and works with the community to identify high-risk situations.
Alexandria Sheriff’s Office
Manages defendants in custody and assists with enforcement, monitoring, and court coordination.
Probation & Parole
Monitors individuals under supervision, ensures compliance with court orders, and connects participants to treatment or support services.
Schools & Educational Programs
Promote awareness about firearm safety, engage youth in violence prevention, and support community education initiatives.
Community Organizations
Provide resources, outreach, and advocacy, including mentoring, public education, and support for affected families.
