Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria (SAPCA)
About Us
Data Collection
SAPCA relies on a variety of community assessments and surveys to guide our work to prevent and reduce youth substance use. SAPCA, the Children Youth and Families Collaborative Commission (CYFCC) and the Alexandria Health Department in collaboration with the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) plans to survey students in grades eight, ten, and twelve to help determine the well-being of youth in our community. This safe, anonymous survey helps schools and health leaders understand the challenges young people face and plan better support. The information collected will be used by the City (SAPCA, CYFCC, Partnership for a Healthier Alexandria, Alexandria Campaign on Adolescent Pregnancy, Teen Wellness Center and various other Alexandria nonprofits) and ACPS to develop and implement programs that address the health of Alexandria’s youth.
As a parent or guardian, it is important for you to know that the instrument asks students about a wide range of topics. All of the questions have been reviewed and are deemed appropriate for use with students in grades eight, ten, and twelve.
