We focus on four major areas of work:

Drive Insights & Innovation Across the Organization

Drive data-driven decisions, improve processes, automate workflows, and deliver actionable insights so teams can focus on high-value work.

Support Organizational Strategic Planning

Embed the City’s strategic plan into daily decisions by aligning Council priorities with department actions, fostering collaboration, and identifying key focus areas.

Establish Data as a Product

Build trusted, well-governed data through standardized quality, clear platform roles, empowered data owners, and unified intelligence.

Advance Citywide AI Adoption

Position the City as a leader in artificial intelligence by building practical AI tools, establishing governance & quality standards, & driving a citywide AI strategy in partnership with ITS.

What Works Cities Certification

The City earned the Silver What Works Cities Certification in recognition of its excellence using data and evidence to improve outcomes for residents.

ASPA Organizational Leadership Award

ASPA Organizational Leadership Award

The City of Alexandria received the 2023 Organizational Leadership Award from the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA) Center for Accountability and Performance.

Digital Cities Award

Digital Cities Award

The City is proud to be recognized in the 2025 Digital Cities Survey.  This national recognition reflects our City’s ongoing work to advance digital equity, data-driven operations, and smarter service delivery for our community. The City has been ranked in the Top 10 for 20 years.

ICMA Excellence 16x9 with Background

ICMA Award

The City earned the ICMA Certificate of Excellence in performance management, the highest award available.  The City has previously earned an ICMA award in 2019 and 2020.

OECD Names Alexandria an Innovative City

Alexandria was named an innovative City by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
