The City of Alexandria invites you to a special exhibition of Croatian Postage Stamps at the Torpedo Factory Art Center (105 N. Union St.) from May 4 through 10.
This free exhibit highlights Croatia’s natural beauty, history, and national pride through the art of stamp collecting, also known as philately.
Explore Croatia’s History of Innovation and Artistry
Croatian stamps are recognized globally for their artistry and design excellence. The collection presented in Alexandria features stamps showcasing:
- Historic milestones, including the 1100th Anniversary of the Kingdom of Croatia and the 900th Anniversary of the Baška Tablet.
- Notable Croatian figures like Dr. Franjo Tuđman, Historian and former President of Croatia, and Luka Modrić, a Croatian soccer player.
- Croatian innovations like the torpedo and the cravat, a fashion staple named after the Croats.
- Natural wonders of the Croatian coast, Mediterranean ships, and the sacred beauty of the Shrine of Marija Bistrica.
