Mobile Art Lab

Launched in 2014 by the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts, the Mobile Art Lab is a dynamic arts vehicle that engages artists and residents in the visual and performing arts. Equipped with traditional and innovative art supplies and equipment, the Mobile Art Lab seeks to connect the community with creativity on-the-go, and gives artists a platform to expand their artistry.

Our Focus

The Mobile Art Lab brings arts and culture to all communities in Alexandria, providing indoor/outdoor, free-to-attend events and activities that are open to the public within the Alexandria city limits. 

Our Goal

Our goal is to deliver hands-on creative experiences straight to the community, transforming any gathering into a celebration of the arts.

Mobile Art Lab

The City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities is seeking requests from community organizations, businesses & event organizers interested in hosting the Mobile Art Lab for creative community engagement during 2026. 

The current call is closed.

 

Application Process & Timeline

  • Wednesday, February 11: Application opens
  • Monday, February 23: Virtual information session. RSVP here.
  • Monday, March 9: Application deadline
  • Friday, March 20: Notifications sent to selected applicants
  • Ongoing: Rolling review for late-year engagements, if availability allows
