Question: We have received an influx of 311 notifications asking for library staff to be paid wages comparable to other jurisdictions. Is it possible to get a chart of the current pay for the most common library positions compared to neighboring jurisdictions? (Councilwoman Gaskins)

Response:

A study is planned for the summer and will involve comparable pay and overall compensation. The FY24 proposed funding budget includes funding for the study along with pay adjustments based on its results. The 16-22% pay gap referenced by speakers at the March 13, 2023, budget public hearing was based on a study that was completed in 2021 and does not necessarily reflect the current market.
