Question: Please provide a list of items in the FY 2025 ACPS budget that were formerly funded by Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. (Councilmember Bagley)

Response:

According to the Alexandria City Public Schools financial staff, at the conclusion of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Grant term on September 30, 2024, all positions, and program funding will be eliminated. ESSER-funded positions were notified that positions would be eliminated at the end of the grant term when accepting the position as well as through communication sent by HR. Any position that departments/schools wanted to maintain to continue their work required the elimination of another position (i.e. a position swap).
