Project Description
The City of Alexandria is pursuing a combined sewer repair project to address sewer back-ups following wet weather events.
The project will include:
- Increasing the size of existing sewer pipes in the intersection of Madison Street and North Saint Asaph Street to provide additional system capacity,
- Installing new curb inlets to improve drainage, and
- Relocating existing the sewer line on Madison Street to provide better drainage.

Construction Update
Old Town North Alliance's annual Chalk-a-Block art event planned for Sunday, September 7 has been postponed to Sunday, September 28. Construction will now begin on Monday, September 29.
CONSTRUCTION Outreach
City contractor, Sagres Construction, will be installing new sanitary sewer pipe, new manholes, and capping a portion of the existing sanitary line at the intersection of Madison Street and North Saint Asaph Street starting in late July 2025.
Pre-Construction Community Meeting:
The City held a pre-construction community meeting, featuring a presentation on project construction followed by a question-and-answer session.
