City's Race and Social Equity Officer is a Panelist on Agenda Alexandria January 25 Event

January 22, 2021--City of Alexandria Race and Social Equity Officer Jaqueline Tucker is one of three panelists during Agenda Alexandria’s “Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Alexandria,” an online conversation with local and national leaders, on January 25, 6:30-8 p.m.

The Office of Race and Social Equity directs the City’s race and social equity commitment, ALL Alexandria, to pursue equitable outcomes for everyone in the community, including all races, religions, countries of origin, sexual orientations, ages, genders and abilities. 

Tucker is working collaboratively with City departments, including DCHS, and City employees, community members and other stakeholders to build a framework to ensure policy decisions advance race and social equity for all Alexandria residents with the goal of reducing and eliminating disparities and inequities experienced by all people, especially those in communities of color and other groups that have been historically and systemically marginalized. 

On January 23, the City will present to the Alexandria City Council a resolution to acknowledge racial inequity in the past and present, and commit to adopting practices and policies that promote racial and social equity. View a docket and register to attend the meeting.

Tucker’s office organized public engagement sessions to give feedback on the resolution, which highlights the importance of collaboration between City government, community members and other stakeholders as the City establishes goals and equity action plans for City departments and conducts race and social equity training.
