Volunteers Needed for Thanksgiving Food Delivery

November 11, 2021--Senior Services of Alexandria, a nonprofit organization supports seniors within the city of Alexandria, is seeking volunteers to distribute meals to a number of families with children in the city of Alexandria during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday.
This year, thanksgiving will fall on November 25, which is the fourth Thursday of the month.
The meals need to be distributed on Monday, November 22 and Wednesday, November 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will pick up the meals from Alexandria City High School at 3330 King St. and deliver them to families of students in the city.

Alexandria City Public Schools will be closed during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday and the Senior Services of Alexandria is supporting ACPS during the closure period to ensure that those in need of emergency food will receive it.
Senior Services of Alexandria is on a mission to foster the independence and self-sufficiency of seniors within the city of Alexandria and enable them to age with dignity. The nonprofit provides meals to the city’s seniors through the organization’s Senior Nutrition Program, which includes Alexandria’s Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) Meals on Wheels program and the organization’s Direct Pay Meals on Wheels programs.
