City of Alexandria Supports Residents Affected by Federal Layoffs: A Community’s Promise of Hope
Federal layoffs often bring feelings of uncertainty and anxiety. The City of Alexandria is dedicated to ensuring those impacted have the support they need to navigate these challenges. Whether individuals are looking for new employment opportunities, need assistance with housing or food, or require additional support services, the City offers a wide range of resources aimed at helping residents through difficult times.
On Saturday, March 8, DCHS staff including the Workforce Development Center, ALX Preschool, Behavioral Health and the Customer Service Team attended the Don Beyer Resource Fair. They engaged with community members, providing essential workforce resources to individuals seeking new job opportunities. This event was particularly valuable for job seekers affected by federal layoffs, offering them a chance to connect with services that can provide the critical support they need during uncertain times.
On March 20, employees from across the Department of Community and Human Services participated in another fair—the City of Alexandria’s Budget Bonanza— where they made available a range of resources connecting people to jobs, childcare and preschool, and mental health services.
